Elegia stepped into the cockpit just in time to hear “Chariot Polaris cleared for docking in Hangar Bay 6. Welcome aboard, Guiding Star,” chirp over the comms system, a broadcast from the Bella Dame. The huge carrier dominated the viewports ahead of them. There was a an awkward pause, but just before Charlize could respond the Traffic Controller continued. Elegia detected a hint of nerves in his voice. “Elegia ri'Nere, it's an honor, sir.”

Charlize looked back at Elegia, not sure how to respond. Elegia squatted down in the co-pilot seat to key the comms. “Thank you, it's an honor to be welcomed aboard. Incoming Hangar Bay 6. Over and out.”

“That's a first,” Charlize looked over to Elegia. Elegia often admired her face, though perfectly replicated to appear Veilrien it had such an uncanny androgynous appearance it was still as if her bondmate was created in some other plane of existence. Charlize wore an officers uniform for the occasion today. It made her look sharp.

“We've been on tour too long,” Elegia shrugged. They'd been summoned here to meet with Maëlys de la Durant for as of yet unknown reasons, but it'd be the first time she'd have direct interaction from anyone in House Durant. Ettiquette befitting her station allowed for more flair than a dress uniform, though she had several of those. For a formal introduction on a military vessel she chose a traditional Errant's Dress, colored white for purity, with grey bordering to match with the Durant colors. The sigil of the house was etched into each cuff of the long overcoat, symbolizing the dedication of her hand's purpose in all tasks. She wore her brown hair in a decorative braid woven in a thin golden net for glory. Her shins, forearms, and shoulders were all plated in white enameled steel gauntlets, greaves, and pauldrons to give the ensemble a traditional armored appearance. She even wore a hint of makeup, a rarity. Her face was powdered to give her a pale appearance, with a very modest lipstick with a cool toned pink. Just enough to create a sheen.

Charlize guided the chariot into the hangar bay with ease. They unloaded together into the more private Hangar Bay 6. As soon as the door swooshed open into the main Hangar area the volume in a large bustling space dulled for a split second. Heads turned when she entered.

“Guiding Star!” Someone said from deep in the crowded room.

It only took a moment before the activity returned to normal, but eyes still tracked her as she walked through the room. She pretended to not notice. She hadn't gotten far when a woman in a uniform from nearby stepped in her path.

“Elegia ri'Nere,” she said, her breath caught in her throat. She took Elegia's gloved hands with both of hers and planted a kiss on the back of it. “Thank you, sir! My husband was at Akure. He wrote of you. You saved him. Thank you!” This woman's name tag indicated the last name Anders. She looked maybe twenty three, a technician aboard the Bella Dame.

The corner of her mouth twitched for a split moment before she remembered her courtesies. She didn't recall a soldier named Anders. “You're most welcome, he fights bravely. We're all safer to have him protecting us. Thank you.” She withdrew her hand.

Anders stepped aside, watching Elegia's every move as she passed.

The next interruption to her path was clearly an honor guard. An officer in a dress uniform flanked by two soldiers standing at attention. This man appeared in his thirties, and carried formalities upon his face. His nametag identified him as Gary. Elegia subtly flicked her finger to channel and direct her aura to meet with his. He was annoyed by this duty.

Well you can't impress them all.

“Elegia ri'Nere”, he saluted.

Elegia bowed as a warrior in response.

He dropped his salute. “Lieutenant Gary at your service. I am to escort you to Maëlys de la Durant at once.”

“Of course,” Elegia nodded.

They rode the lift system from the bottom of the ship to near the top, near the bridge. The Lieutenant lead them down a long main corridor, and eventually to a branching corridor that appeared to be a series of officer conference rooms and offices.  Maëlys' was the first.

The escorting party stopped at the door. “You may enter.”

Wordlessly Elegia and Charlize stepped inside.

“Elegia ri'Nere, at your service Sovereign Lady.” Again, she bowed.

"I will never fall."

You would think I would spend more time commanding than doing sierding paper word. MERDE! She coughed and let out a string of curses in Masard Avalonic. They dripped from her lips with the practice of any good astraliner. Standing up her long starborn frame she stretched out to her full length of near to just over two mevres. Her hair was shorn in a simple rounded cut, and her face was removed of any makeup. Soldier's didn't look pretty on the even of battle, and as the executive officer of La Belle Dame her job was to ensure duty shifts were on time, and much more.

Command and Control was brimming with life as she steppped out fro her office into the greater bridge. Consoles were tightly fitted and holoscreens glowed with their ghostly data. A Logician was busily checking the core data of the locrealms and she herself passed the with nary a glance. It was Alpha Shift, the first of the day, and she was up early as Traffic Control started to relay a set of notifications to her PND The small plas clear disk beeped loudly as the text scrawled across it.
"New Errant Aboard."

Her eyes looked at the information as she coded a information query from Traffic Control. It only stated the name "Guiding Star" in its information. She tapped the little handset harder in irritation as her features hardened into her command mask. Lips pressed into an unfeeling thin line as her eyes were ready to bore into anyone who challenged her.

Finally, it beeped and her PND began to scroll out the information for her. Maelys devoured it as fast as she could to be ready for the upcoming arrival and then called for her steward to ready proper bit of tea for her.

"Ensign, send out a patrol and prepare to unfurl full sails." she said after she remembered the Captain's orders for their future destination. A deep patrol along the line, to check the Void Listening Posts. The fine white lined indigo uniform of her steward made her aware of the Soulgiven's appearance and she gave the Escuier a nod. While she had little like for Enarodyr, she did find Synthetic's useful, and she liked Francis well enough. Eir light Low Avalonic was quaint to say the least.

"Ear Grey Commander, Hot." Ey said as she followed Maelys back into her office and she took her seat. Francis served the tea in a single black ceramic cup set upon a dark blue saucer. Both bore the Bloodmark of House Durant and she scoffed internally at the monogram.

"Well done Francis, as always. Thank you for purchasing that Yomi blend like I asked." Maelys gave a curt nod before she set down her PND and poised herself as she was sure whatever would happen would be interesting to say the least.

The door opened, and the marine on duty entered just after a woman decked out in the usual ridiculous outfit of an Errant. He himself wore the dogtags, and black armored bodyglove of a Infantry Man, and had a gel-rifle on cradled in his arms.

"Master Chief, you are dismissed." She rose from her seat, and walked toward the Errant and noted the appearance of the Androgyne, a control gem set into her forehead. Hmm. Interesting custom model. I wished they didn't need Synths. Her voice was quiet and yet clear of emotion as she then turned and faced the image of a screaming black scaled dream hung behind her desk. The 105st, the Fist of the House on the Line.

"Hmmm. well done at the camp of Akure. Using Tek to turnabout our foces to rout the enemy." Succinct words danced off her lips as she turned around and her blue eyes snapped wide open.

"You may have heard of me ri"Nere," she said addressing the Errant in the informal form, "To the Imperial Blood I am Maelys de la Durant, a Sovereign Lady of the High Blood. To you, I am Commander Durant understood? I do not partake in the stupidity of politics or court on my ship." This was Commander Malice, the iron-knifed woman who had bled for the Line. And took her House's word to their true meaning.

"Now...the pleasantries aside. You have permission to speak freely." she softened and said before prowling back to her chair to seat herself once again. Her body rigid as the dogtags around her neck jingled with each step. On her desk was a single Sharpened Infantry Bayonet with a nanite sharpening stone nearby it. Her eyes scanned it before returning to look at Miss ri'Nere.

“Of course, Commander Durant, Thank you,” Elegia bowed her head slightly in courtesy, taking the chance to reexamine her attire. It suddenly felt very much like wearing a costume. She'd imagined meeting the noble family for most of her life, and expected the long standing traditions to be important. Why did they spend so much damn time learning about it in Sun-Hawk if it could be waved away that easily?

No matter.

Elegia approached the desk, noting Maëlys' glance to her bayonet before looking back to the Errant. A threat? Condescension dripped from Maëlys' words, but Elegia dare not use Tek to learn more. Hell, this meeting itself could be a test just to see if Elegia's scruples were that low. She'd just continue with caution.

Two chairs sat facing the desk. Without permission Charlize plopped down in one. Elegia twinged a bit, annoyed with the soulgiven's lack of social awareness. It left Elegia as the only standing though, so she followed suit.

“This is Charlize, Commander,” Elegia motioned to the soulgiven.

“Pleased to meet you, Commander,” Charlize bowed a little in her chair.

“To speak freely,” Elegia continued, “It's an honor to be at your service though I'm surprised I'm not still at Akure. The battle is won, but the offensive remains. I received a missive to report here. It was signed with the seal of your House.” But perhaps not by you, she wondered. “It came with a transmission link, though it's encrypted.” Elegia reached in her overcoat to produce her PAD, which remained open to the link in question. She set it on the desk. “We dare not break an encryption from your family, Commander. Perhaps you know more?”

Charlize shifted in her seat.

"I will never fall."

Maelys de la Durant, remained in her seat, the mask of command austere on her face as she read through the Errant. Being a commissioned Officer she had attended the War Collegia in preparation for what was to come. One of the first things they taught you at the Lysee Excellence was how to read your subordinates. While she was not the most personable person, she wondered if the Errant was a little on edge. Elegia appeared a tad offset by her voice. Maelys settled in a she crossed a leg under the desk over the other and listened.

That was when the Soulgiven sat down with an audible plop in one of here other chairs. Immediately, Lady Durant was unsure how to respond to the Synth. She smirked a little after raising an eyebrow and offered her a simple nod. "Hello, Squire Charlize, your services are appreciated. Thank you for your loyalty to my family at your Errant's side."

Calmly Maelys sipped a bit ore of her tea and let it ease the dryness of her throat, and she eased again into the leather of her chair. It was artificial like most high end faux leather in Veilais, but she was comfortable with it As she drank her Tea she listened intently to Dame Elegia and eyed her in between scanning her PND. The small portable console was her lifeline to the rest of the military realm of the March Fleet and so when Elegian mentioned a reassignment she tapped on the small thing with her right hand.

The quick swift query returned with the encrypted message of the Fleet Marshal himself. Her eyes widened, as she set aside her tea and sent the order's summary to the holoscreen at hr desk.

Raising her hand to indicate to the Errant to wait the screen activated as a series of High Avalonic suddenly coalesced on screen. She sifted through it carefully and sighed. Why didn't the Captain tell me about this? I am his XO?! The young Commander's face shifted as the realization at being thrown under the shuttle hit her Was this payment from Robert? Or perhaps her other brother? Ever since the disaster at Bouvines Station years ago, her family was filled with misinformation.

"You are added to one of our Pendeks aboard. Seems you will be serving with Knight-Commander Duval as your Commander Officer. Hmmm, he's a bloody arse, sierding Knight of Ys loyal only to the memory of my father." she sighed and leaned forward after dismissing the screen. Rubbing her temple she sat up and snagged the PND in a swift movement. Before long she stared at display on the far wall to the right of her desk.

It was the Battle of Camlon rendered in the Ancient Heavily Inked Style of the Late Ulgan Dynasty. At the center stood the valiant Emperor Llewyn in an ancient Grail Heavy Lancer Chevalier against the Black Eoten monstrosity of his bastard son.

"Tell me, Elegia, what do you think of the Flag Ship of the Confederacy?" she asked without provocation.
