Duzahk is the first planet in the Rook System and closest to the Guarded Star of the three inhabitable planets of the system. Duzahk is named for the ancient homeland of the Duzakat people lost in the sands of time. The world itself is made of two continents. The North is a land of Cragland, brush, and deep mountain valleys. Said to have been formed by angry gods thousand of years before the arrival of the Faeru the North is home to a majority of the population. Other than a vast icy-crown which sits farther at the polar cap, the South is a smaller continent which lazily snakes its way through the Ancestral Seas.

For more than a thousand years Duzahk has stood as a wavering older sibling to the other worlds of the Rook System. For many generations, it was Asgeir who stood Ascendant in the system, and some to this day still consider the icy second planet to be far a capital than that of Duzahk.

The history of Duzahk began in the early days of the expansion era. When the first High Pass has chartered an influx of people fled into the newly discovered system seeking freedom from the rule of Throne. What they found was a new small cluster of habitable worlds lay ripe for colonization. Early days of the colonists were hard on Duzahk with the Duzakat migration quickly overtaken by the appearance of other ethnic groups such as the nomadic Maatjia of Aru and the warlike Mitanner landed advanced raiding parties and stole supplies to formulate their own colonies.

Most Duzahki would call the early time of colonization, the Dust Wars, a time when petty nations fought int he valleys and along the open brush lands to solidify their hold on power. As the ordering of Rook passed over and new Houses arose from the foundations of colonization. The nation of Diaokhi was the first to attempt unification under a central ruler, and utterly failed when the Duzakat Kings finally turned their inward gaze to the mountain Mtavari.

Thus followed the Unification War fought between the northern nations while the Maatjia tribes of the south wandered the outback of the serpent's continent. IT all finally ended in the climax of the Second Dynastic Era when several local Duzahki rose to prominence in the expanding Imperial regime.

The Duzahki landscape is a split between the large flat ponderous northern continent known as the Giant's Crown for the massive mountains that split it asunder from the northern polar cap to the southern brushlands that meet the Ancestor Seas. This massive continent is home to the Kingdom of Ormazdshahr, the Principality of Urarati and the Kingdom of Diahoki. These nations are found primarily (except for Ormazdshahr) along the Crown mountains.

The southern isthmus that connects the two continents is a far more tropical clime compared to the arid highlands of the north and the deserts of the south. Here is where large tracts of land dedicated to farming.

The Serpent's Spine is the smaller even dryer continent which seems to spiral down into the Ancestor Seas deep toward the southern polar cap. The center of the continent is one grand sand desert with the outer edges either licked by the rocky cliff ridden coast. Or tall grasses which devour any water which appears on the surface. It is here in in the Spine where the Sand Emirates make their home.

Notable Lifeforms

Many strange and interesting life forms make their home on the planet.

  • Highland Quail - A mid-sized bird covered in red and gray feathers. Highly prized by many for its tender flesh.
  • Cragcat - A roan colored feline descended from hunting cats of Aru brought to the planet by the Maatjia, it now roams in small prides across the mountains and plains of the planet.
